Kristen's passion for nutrition began in High School when she started experimenting in the kitchen by preparing fresh, healthy meals for her parents and siblings. After completing her B.A. in Physical Anthropology at the University of California Santa Barbara, she enrolled in a full-time culinary arts program at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. She worked at One Market Restaurant in San Francisco and trained under well known and respected chefs in the Bay Area. She completed her internship in the pastry kitchen at the Four Seasons Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara and was offered a full-time position upon graduating. Within a year, Kristen returned to San Francisco, where she was offered a full-time position in the pastry kitchen at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco.
Kristen later left the hotel industry and the culinary world to pursue her desire to create the life she wanted and a schedule that she was in control of. In 2010, Kristen was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease that she later discovered she was able to control by changing her nutrition. Adding Juice Plus+ whole food nutrition to her daily routine improved her symptoms, digestion, skin, and energy. Fueled by a desire to learn more about the power of food, at the age of 40, Kristen applied to graduate school. She completed her M.S. degree in Nutrition at Northeastern University in December 2015 and her certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from eCornell.
Kristen focusses on plant-based nutrition with an emphasis on whole foods over processed foods, and simple, achievable changes instead of deprivation.
